Ray Harryhausen (June 29, 1920 – May 7, 2013)

On May 7, 2013, Ray Harryhausen was announced dead at the age of 92 on Facebook and Twitter. If you are a fan of stop-motion animation, you would know that he did not just work on “special effects” for films. Some of the work that he was known for were  “Mighty Joe Young,” “Jason and the Argonauts,” and “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.” He created Dynamation, a brand of stop-motion animation. His work inspired the digital effects blockbuster generation of filmmakers such as George Lucas, Tim Burton, and Steven Spielberg. So instead of you reading about him, why not watch Harryhausen talk about his work himself?
